How do I shut off my sprinklers?!

How to shut off Culinary Sprinkler Systems

If your sprinkler system runs on culinary water, you will need a long metal sprinkler key which is a T-shape with a mouth on the bottom to grab onto the shutoff valve, which is buried 4-7 feet underground. Usually this valve us located in the lawn near your water meter. Sometimes, the valve may also be located near the house, though this is less common.

How to shut off Pressurized Irrigation Sprinkler Systems

If your system runs on pressurized irrigation water, you need to locate the shutoff valve which is generally in a green plastic box buried at the level of the grass. It will generally be labeled "pressurized irrigation" and will be near the street or at the corner of your property.

Is my system culinary or pressurized irrigation water?

Most Utah County properties are on pressurized irrigation unless you are in Provo, Orem, or have an older property. If you have a backflow preventer on your property, you definitely have a culinary system!
